Introduction

Launched in 2020, The Only One Eau de Parfum Intense is Dolce & Gabbana's amplified reinterpretation of the original The Only One. Where the original walks the line between day and night, the Intense version commits fully to evening glamour — darker, warmer and decidedly more opulent. Perfumer Violaine Collas deepened the formula, replacing the coffee note with richer floral and vanilla accords and housing the juice in a black-tinted architectural flacon adorned with gold.

The opening is bright and energising — Italian mandarin and neroli provide a citrus clarity, while green apple adds a fresh, slightly tart dimension. As the fragrance develops, a lush floral heart emerges: Sambac jasmine in full bloom, softened by coconut creaminess and the honeyed warmth of orange blossom. The drydown is where the Intense truly distinguishes itself — Madagascan vanilla settles over cashmere wood and cedar in a base that is plush, warm and extraordinarily long-lasting. The overall arc moves from luminous to enveloping.

Performance

Performance is exceptional. Longevity frequently exceeds ten hours, with the vanilla-cashmere base clinging to skin and fabric through the night and into the following day. Projection in the first hour is notable and assertive; it mellows to a close sillage by mid-evening that remains captivating. Best in autumn and winter, though wearable year-round by those who favour rich, warm fragrances. Predominantly an evening fragrance, though a light application works in a cool office setting. Appeals to women in their mid-twenties through to their fifties.

Because the Intense is powerfully projecting, discipline is essential in warm climates's warm climate. During hot afternoons or outdoor events, one spray is sufficient — the heat will amplify every note significantly. The vanilla and coconut combination in particular can feel cloying if over-applied in humid conditions. dry-season is the ideal warm-climate season for this fragrance: the dry, cool air of November to February allows the cashmere base to develop beautifully without becoming overwhelming. In air-conditioned venues, you may comfortably apply two sprays. Reserve maximum application for evening dinners in cool environments.
